Yes, we can ship you a DVD. Simply contact sales@precise.com for assistance.
Sometimes the SQL Server DB holds some files that require a restart to release these files handles. In the logs/setup.log file you will see that a restart is required. Please do the following:
For Install Shield you have to allow psin_cli.exe (Precise executable) to run.
To start viewing Precise data, you need to launch the Precise GUI. If you checked the box during the installation process to automatically launch the GUI, you will be brought to the SQL Server console automatically once the installation is complete.
The 2nd option is to go to the Start Menu -> Programs -> Precise, and choose to launch one of the following:
The 3rd option is to type the URL http://localhost:20790 in a browser.
The username/password of the Precise GUI is admin/admin.
Download times for the software vary based on Internet speeds.
Once you download the software and click the Setup.exe file, the installation will take approximately 15 minutes.
The trial license expires 30 days from the date you install the product.
The performance data that was collected during the trial period will remain in Precise repository. You will no longer be able to review the data once the trial is over, unless you purchase the product. In addition, data will continue to collect until you stop the collector agents. If you choose not to purchase the software at the end of the trial period, you will need to uninstall the product to stop data collection. There is an uninstall program located in the file directory.
Precise is an agent-based technology that allows you to collect granular performance metrics across many different technologies.
The Precise software download is approximately 2.5 GB. Once data starts to collect, you should expect that over a 30-day trial period, you will need approximately 10 to 30 GB of disk space, depending on the volume of traffic going through your application or database and the Precise data retention settings. You can save every data point, or aggregate daily, monthly, etc. You can change these settings in the Admin Console.
